Plaid leader offers YES Scotland support and solidarity
On the launch of the Yes Scotland campaign for the referendum on independence, the leader of Plaid Cymru Leanne Wood said:
“I offer Plaid Cymru’s support and solidarity to YES Scotland.
“In 2014, the people of Scotland will be asked to vote on the future of their nation. The vote will determine whether people in Scotland are to take charge of their own destiny.
“The YES campaign in Scotland is a grassroots campaign, the biggest community campaign in Scottish history.
“This is a great day for people of Scotland. It is the beginning of a golden opportunity for people to shape the future of their country - to put all decisions which affect Scotland in the hands of the people of Scotland.
“It is now time for the people of Scotland to create their own prosperity, to create jobs and growth on their terms and to find Scottish solutions to Scottish problems.
“Plaid Cymru very much hopes that the people do the right thing and vote YES for Scotland in 2014.”
Plaid Cymru Parliamentary Leader, Elfyn Llwyd MP, said:
"I would like to offer the Yes campaign my full support in this historic referendum.
"The time has come for a rigorous and inclusive debate on the constitutional future of the UK, and I hope that the people of Scotland choose the path to prosperity rather than settle for London rule.
"Here in Wales too, the appetite for greater powers to shape our own future is growing, and I hope that the momentum gained by the Scottish Yes campaign will inspire more people to have greater aspirations for our nation.
"I hope that the people of Scotland will embrace this once in a lifetime opportunity to take full control of the decisions that impact their daily lives and not fall for Unionist scaremongering.
"I am confident that the campaign will be successful and can assure everyone involved that Plaid Cymru will be with them every step of the way."
